This postcard arrived today ... and I was so excited. It is from my parents, and so not really part of this postcard exchange, but it IS a postcard, so I thought I would include it. My parents are currently travelling around Germany, and this was from Koblenz, near the beginning of their holiday (they left Australia on the 27th June, and will return around the middle of August). This picture shows what is known as The German Corner, where the River Mosel joins the River Rhine.

This postcard arrived today ... June 17th 2007. Thank you, Jean-Luc (Capt. Picard) for continuing to think of me and my Postcard Exchange. Jean-Luc has just returned to England, after doing a bit of travelling. This postcard is from Cobh, Co. Cork ... Situated in Cork harbour and only 24 kms from the city of Cork. The magnificent St. Colman's Cathedral which dominates the scene is the glory of the Diocese of Cloyne and is constructed in the French Gothic style. It has an impressive exteror of blue Dalkey granite. The cathedral has a carillon of forty seven bells, one of the largest in these islands.

Both of these postcards arrived just a couple of weeks ago, from Lora, in Las Vegas. They are great photos, showing how "unreal" this city looks. LasVegas is a 24 hour town, the entertainment capitol of the world. With over 35 million visitors a year, Las Vegas is America's favorite tourist destination, an is home to the world's largest hotels. I really love the backdrop of mountains in the horizontal picture ... they look amazing. Both these postcards are huge, at least twice (if not more) the size of regular postcards. Thanks, Lora, I love them.

This postcard arrived early May 2007, from Lazy Iguana. It's from Miami, Florida, and it shows a beautiful aerial view of Bayside, with the American Airlines Arena, home of the Miami Heat and popular event venue, in the foreground. Thank you, it looks fabulous.

This was the first card I received from Karen ... it shows Timpanogos, Utah. Mount Timpanogos Wilderness lies between American Fork and Provo Canyon. A key feature of this wilderness area is Mount Timpanogos. With a summit elevation of 11,750 feet, the mountain is the second highest peak in the Wasatoh Mountain Range. A network of hiking trails on the mountain's eastern side offers scenic views of alpine meadows, lakes, and waterfalls. Thanks, Karen, for all your lovely cards.

This postcard came from Devil Mood, from Portugal. It is of Fuseta, in the South of Portugal ... a small fishing village. She says the beaches are breath-taking, and you can almost be there alone, with no loud neighbours. It looks magical ... thanks for sharing your experience.

I got this postcard from Dick, in August 2006. He describes the town as a fun place to visit, but it is a tourist trap. The blurb on the card reads ... Leavenworth, Washington, is located at the base of the beautiful Cascade Mountains on Highway 2, just 118 miles east of Seattle. Leavenworth's many festivals and special events throughout the year include Ice Fest, Maifest, Bird Fest, Wine Festival, Sausage Fest, Salmon Festival, Autumn Leaf Festival, Oktoberfest, Christmas Lighing, and many more. Goodness, it sounds like it's a festival all year around, in Leavenworth !! Thanks for the card, Dick.

This wonderful postcard came from Susan, and is of the Fraser Valley, Maple Ridge, in British Columbia, Canada. The blurb printed on the card states ... With it's rural landscape and spectacular setting beneath the "Golden Ears", Maple Ridge provides the best of all living conditions for it's residents. It looks like a wonderful place.

Karen sent me a few photos she took, as postcards ... they are wonderful. On the back of this one she wrote ... Ben Lomond Peak, near Ogden, Utah, is probably the most famous of the northern Wasatch peaks. It stands north of Ogden in prominent fashion and is very popular with the community. A couple of well-maintained, but long trails lead to its summit. The peak supposedly was what Paramount Pictures' logo was designed from - incidentally, it's parent Viacom, once owned several broadcast stations in Utah, including Utah's CBS affiliate KUTV, before CBS Corporation was spun off with the broadcast elements (among other properties) in 2006. This photo was taken in January 2006.

Another photo postcard from Karen, this one taken in August 2006. It is of Tony Grove Lake, which has an elevation of 8100 feet. There are 36 campsites near Tony Grove Lake. There is also a nature trail, with signs describing the natural features of the area. It is a glacial lake.

Gosh, what a beautiful card, from an amazing place. This card is from Chloe, who was visiting the Island of Kythira. She says that there are so many things to see and do. They explored a cave and saw waterfalls and a castle. There are many pretty villages to look at, also. Thank you, Chloe, for thinking of me when you were on holidays.

This postcard came from Marie, an Aussie living in Sweden. It is of Kristianopel, a town founded in the 1600s by the Danish king Kristian IV. It used to be the border between Denmark and Sweden and was the scene of many battles. Today it is a lovely, sleepy, quite coastal town, thought the old defensive wall still surrounds the township. Sweden looks like an amazing place.

This card, from wonderful Berlin, in Germany, came to me from Ulla, whilst she was spending a few days in Berlin. It shows a variety of scenes around the city (anti-clockwise) ... What an intersting card ... it has a boot cutout !! This one came from Stinkypaw, and is of Mt. Washington, New Hampshire. It shows a view of the Lake of Clouds and the Appalachian Trail. Looks like amazing countryside. Appparently the summit of Mt. Washington is 6288 feet !! Wonderful ... thank you.

This one came from Rev. Shawn, whilst he was travelling around Canada last year. It shows a Killer Whale at Vancouver Island. B.C. in a moment of playful relaxation. These social marine mammals are seen in most parts of coastal B.C. What amazing creatures they are. Thank you for all your cards whilst on your trip ... they were all wonderful.

This gorgeous postcard arrived from Debbie, and is from Niagara Falls. She wrote ... This postcard does not begin to do justice to Niagara Falls. This is the American Falls. The big green tower is for viewing the falls on both the Canadian and American sides. The boat is a ride called Maid in the Mist, and it takes you for a close up view of both falls. The sandy looking areas is an overlook to the falls and the small fall on the left of it is called the Bridal Veil. There is a tour you can take that walks down near enough to the veil to get very, very wet !! Thank you Debbie ... I know that Niagara Falls is one of those must-see places.

This card came from Cinthia, and is from Washington DC. The pictures (starting top left, going down, row by row) are ... Iwo Jima Statue, Jefferson Memorial, Smithsonian Castle, Washington Monument, Supreme Court, Capitol Building, Pandas, Veitnam Wall, White House, Vietnam War Memorial. You know, when I think of the history in countries like the US, and others, it makes me realise how "young" Australia really is. Thanks, Cinthia, for the card.

A blog friend of mine, Marie, an Aussie living in Sweden, spends part of each Summer sailing around Sweden and surrounds. This card came from Kalmar, which at one time was the biggest city in Sweden, and the centre of power, politics, and elegance. In the late 17th century the power base moved further north to Stockholm, but Kalmar still shows many traces of it's noble history. On this postcard there are pictures of the old water tower, the magnificent 800 year old renaissance-style castle, with it's fabulous views toward the sea, and the cathedral, a solid baroque style structure in the middle of town.

This postcard is from Marie. It is of Oland, an island just off the south east coast of Sweden in the Baltic Sea. It is a beautiful place, and a firm favourite with Swedes, who flock there to enjoy the sunshine (it is the sunniest place in Sweden), the long sandy beaches, the quiet little bays and the unusual and pretty landscape.

Marie was very kind, sending me many postcards during her travels in 2006. This one is from Monsteras, a small coastal hamlet in the province of Smaland. It is very picturesque, with the central part of the town built around a magnificent medieval church and made up of a maze of tiny, winding streets of cobblestone, lined with wooden houses dating back to the late 17th century. The town itself is much older, but various invading armies from Denmark, Poland, Germany and Russia used to periodically raze the town until the treaty of Roskilde in 1658.

This is one of many I received from Marie, during her sailing travels last year. It is from Granna. Marie writes that it is a small town on the banks of the second largest lake in Sweden. Apparently, the main industry in Granna is making the lollies that are shown on the postcard. They are called polkagris, and taste like Christmas Candy Canes.

This postcard came from Debbie, and shows a lovely scene from Jamestown. In 1607 the Susan Constant, the Godspeed, and the Discovery sailed up the James River and the 104 men abourd chose this site for their colony. These full size replicas are moored at Jamestown Settlement.

Yay, Blogger finally let me post these postcards ...

I received these wonderful postcards from Greeneyes a couple of days ago, as part of a little package. They are so beautiful.

This first one shows a variety of pictures from Newfoundland & Labrador ... what an amazing place.

This one shows a Bull Moose ... those antlers are incredible !

This one shows some colourful Puffins, who are inhabitants of Newfoundland. What interesting looking birds ... wish we had them here !!

This one shows an iceberg at Salt Harbour. Now, I'm wondering if it is like this all year around ... or are the icebergs only Winter things (don't laugh, I don't know this part of the world !!) What a spectacular photo !

This photo is also of icebergs. The blurb on the back of the card states ... "Although icebergs appear gigantic from shore, 7/8 of them remain below the water. Formed of pure ice, their white appearance is due to many tiny air bubbles reflecting white light."

This one says ... "Gros Morne National Park with its fiords, mountains, and spectacular ocean scenery is one of the most exciting areas in Newfoundland and in fact, all of North America."

"Cape Bonavista Lighthouse was first visited by Europeans in 1497, and the surrounding lands were claimed by John Cabot for King Henry VII of England five years after Columbus discovered the West Indies."

"The spectacular coastal scenery and rugged shores of Cape St. Mary's have been immortalised in Otto Kelland's popular Newfoundland folk songs "Let me fish off Cape St. Mary's."

I've gotta say, Greeneyes, you live in the most spectacular part of the world. I can't get over the rugged beauty of the area. It is just amazing. Thank you so much for all these wonderful cards.

I received 4 more wonderful postcards from Rev. Shawn yesterday. It appears he is on a holiday trip from his home in Manitoba, all the way to Northern Vancouver Island. I must get out my Atlas, so that I can see what sort of distance this is. On the first card he stated that they had covered 2300 kilometres in 36 hours. From the time frame of the next 3 cards, it seems it was a 4 day trip to get where they are staying.

The first card is of the Canadian Rockies, showing a breathtaking view of Mt. Assiniboine. I must say, it looks absolutely stunning ... just like something out of a picture book.

The next card shows an aerial view of Vancouver, showing the inner harbour with 1,000 acre Stanley Park in the foreground and Mt. Baker, in Washington State, in the background. Rev Shawn says it was very hot ... 40ºC+ !

The next card is from Victoria (strange receiving a card IN Victoria, FROM Victoria !!). The photo on the card shows the Provincial Legislative Buildings, Victoria, B.C. Apparently it was designed by Francis Rattenbury. The beautiful building was illuminated in June 1887 in honour of the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty, Queen Victoria.

This last card shows Travelling Orca, and comes from Northern Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada. What beautiful creatures these killer whales are ... I am always reminded of the magical movie Free Willy. Rev. Shawn says the weather is somewhat cooler than they had on their trip up, but is still wonderful. The kids are playing in the water, and they will be busy doing family holiday stuff. I am sooooo jealous. I hope you have a great time, Rev, and thank you so much for all the wonderful cards.

I have received a few postcards in the past week, but unfortunately haven't had the opportunity to put them on this blog. So ..... here they are .....

This first one came from Tonia, from Ohio. It shows a yummy recipe for Ohio Buckeye Candy ... guess what I'll be making soon. Yum!! Thanks Tonia, what a wonderful card.

The next one came from FTS, from Colorado. It shows a valley in the Colorado High Country, resting among the top of the Rocky Mountains, somewhere between 11,000 and 14,000 feet high. It looks amazing, thank you so much for the card.

The last one came from Rev. Shawn, from Minnedosa in Manitoba. Apparently it has a small population of around 2,400, and is historically a Train Town. Now it depends on farming, tourism and an internet pharmacy ! It certainly sounds like an interesting place. Thanks for the great card.

I received another postcard today ... this lovely one from Reverberate, from Atlanta, Georgia. It looks like a big city ... a bit different from what we see on Gone With The Wind !!! I can't imagine Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler here !!! Thanks for the gorgeous card, I love that it isn't just a rectangular card. This one, and the one I received yesterday from New York are interesting shapes.

I was very excited when I went to my letterbox, as there was 3 more postcards from my lovely blogger friends.

The first one was from Dr. Deb, and is from New York. I always have been fascinated by New York, and it has been depicted in so many ways, in so many movies. It looks absolutely enormous ... much bigger than my hometown of Melbourne !! Thanks , Deb, for the great card ... it is so big !!

The next 2 cards both came from Angel Jr., and are both of Caesars Palace, in Las Vegas, Nevada. It appears that Angel has been visiting Las Vegas, and stayed in Caesars Palace. He says that if I ever make it out there, I definately have to check it out. The printed blurb on one of the postcards says ... "From the moment one walks through the doors of Caesars Palace , one has arrived at the most prestigious resort in the world. From the Roman Plaza to the Colosseum, a plethora of entertainment awaits." It looks just amazing, and I always think of old Elvis movies, and Wayne Newton, when I see photos of Las Vegas. I received this lovely postcard yesterday from Peg and Bun-Bun, at Penny's From Heaven. She says that "Yes, this is what Iowa looks like. Lots of cornfields and wide open spaces, and lots of farm houses." I have been reading the Little House on the Praire books recently, and I guess this is what I expected the countryside to look like in that era. It looks beautiful. Thank you Peg for your card.

I received this lovely postcard today, posted by Montchan's mum, but written by Montchan and his kitty sibling Tarachan, all the way from Sweden. It had a lovely little note on it from the kitties, and they drew a little self-portrait of themselves. I must say, these kitties are wonderful artists, and write surprisingly well. Thank you, Montchan's mum, for allowing your kitties to send me this wonderful postcard. The pictures thereon are amazing. Ooooh, I still love receiving postcards !!

I'm very excited ... after a break of a couple of weeks, I got 3 new postcards today !!

The first is from Jack, and shows a wonderful picture of Missoula. The text on the backof the card says it is "Missoula Summer Twilight" ... "This panoramic view overlooking Missoula shows a typical summer sunset enjoyed by many visitors and residence that hike the "M" trail. The University of Montana is nesteld at the base of Mount Sentinel and is bordered by the Clark Fork River." Jack says that this is the town he lives in and grew up in. Apparently it was much smaller in the 60s ! It certainly looks like a beautiful place to live. Thank you Jack.

The second card is another one from Marie, who is on a sailing tour. Marie says that they are finally on the west coast of Sweden, sailing in these belautiful waters in the province of Bohuslän. She says it is a very popular sailing destination for boats from Sweden, Norway, Germany, Denmark and Holland. At the moment, they are in the town of Strömstad - the most westerly township in Sweden, just a few kilometers south of the Norwegion border. It looks like they are having an amazing trip ... I would love to do something like that one day. Thanks, Marie, for sharing your travels with me.

This last on is from Peg, and shows a map of Iowa. It is really interesting receiving postcards with maps on them. Being on the other side of the world, I really don't know much about America. These little cards are teaching me little bits and pieces about a part of a world I know nothing about. It is great funl. Thank you, Peg, for the card. It is wonderful.

In the past few days I have received 4 more postcards.

The first is from Kimber, and shows a beautiful view of the windswept beaches of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada. The building in the photo is the Wickaninnish Inn, on Chesterman Beach, in the heart of Clayoquot Sound. Wow, it looks amazing. Kimber says if you look closely, you might be able to see her surfing. Hang Five, Kimber !!

The next two are from Dragonflyfilly. The first one shows Canada Harbour Place, in Vancouver, Canada. The card says that Vancouver's Wold Trade and Convention Centre is located on one of the most beautiful pieces of property in the world and is attached to the Pan Pacific Hotel. It actually looks like a boat, but my guess it is reclaimed land, or built on a pier type construction. It looks amazing.

The second one from Dragonflyfilly shows a bunch of monkeys with skis and snowboards, drinking beer. Definately a cool card.

The final card is from Tonia, and is from Columbus, Ohio. Tonia writes that Columbus is the state capital of Ohio. The estimated population of the Columbus metropolitan area is 1.7 million. Ohio became a state in 1803 and Columbus was made capital in 1812. Columbus is home to the Ohio State University. Ohio is known for its Native American burial mounds, it's love of sports, and the State Candy called "Buckeyes", which is made with chocolate and peanut butter (sounds yummy !!). On the card, from left to right is the downtown skyline, the State Capital Building, and more of the downtown skyline. Ohio sounds like an interesting place.

Thank you ladies for your lovely cards. I really think it is time I came to America and Canada to visit all the wonderful places I have received postcards from. Also, of course, to all the other countries from where I have received cards.

I have put all these postcards together in a lovely album, which displays both the picture and the writing and postage stamps. I am happily sharing it around with my friends, who are astounded at all the wonderful cards I have been receiving.

I received another lovely postcard today. This one is from Montreal, in Canada, and is from Stinkypaws. It shows a beautiful picture of Old Montreal, and the blurb on the card says "Flower gardens and 19th century architectue are all part of the charm of Old Montreal". Stinkypaws says that the picture is of Place Jacques-Cartier (who is one of the discoverers of Canada), and the building with the green roof is Montreal's City Hall. She says there are lots of terraces, street vendors, artists, etc. It certainly sounds like a wonderful place. Thank you so much for the gorgeous card.

I received two more postcards today, both from people who I had already received cards from. Thank you, dear friends, for continuing to send cards.

The first is from Jean-Luc, and is from Chester, in Cheshire, England. It shows the Eastgate from Foregate Street. It looks like a very historical place (as it seems much of England is). I'm guessing it is a good shopping area, judging by the number of people carrying shopping bags in the picture !!

The next one is from Marie, and is from Söderköping. She is on a canal trip across Sweden, with her family. According to her card, so far they have passed through 3 locks and have risen 7m above sea level. By the time they reach Gothenburg on the west coast, they will have passed through 64 locks and risen over 92m, before descending back to sea level. The town of Söderköping is a small and quiet town of 14,000 people. The older parts date back over 1,000 years and the court house pictured dates back to the late 18th century. It looks like an amazing place.

I received another postcard today.

This one is from Tink, all the way from The Netherlands. The postcard shows various pictures from Ymuiden, which is a little city on the west coast of The Netherlands. Ships bound for Amsterdam pass through the locks and harbours of this city. Ymuiden started flourishing when the North Sea Canal was ready in 1879, but it also has Roman origins. Thank you, Tink, for the wonderful postcard. It looks like a glorious place to live.

I was really excited when I went to my letterbox today ... there were 5 postcards and an letter from blogging friends. Let me share them with you ...

The first one is from Marie, and shows a lovely view over Stockholm. It looks like a beautiful place. Marie says it is often called "The Venice Of The North". Apparently Stockholm is built on 14 islands, joined by 53 bridges, and dates back to the 1200's. The city is one third water, one third green space (there are 38 parks) and one third buildings. Sounds amazing. Thank you Marie for the beautiful postcard.

The second one is from Momyblogr, and shows a night time view of downtown Nashville, Music City USA. She says that things in Music City are really warming up - gearing up for Summer. It looks like another gorgeous place. From what I know of Nashville, it is the home of Country Music ... hope I'm right in saying that. Thank you, too Momyblogr, for the great card.

The next two are both from Angel Jr, and are of Florida. The first one show the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, which he says is one of his favourite veiws of Florida. I can see why ... it looks amazing. What an enormous bridge ... a real feat of engineering, I would imagine. The card states that it is 15.1 miles long, and connects St. Petersburg with Bradenton.

The second one from Angel shows a stylised map of Florida. Looks like it would be a fun place to live. A lot of the places shown on the map are places I have seen on all those teen summer and spring break type movies. Thank you Angel for the cards. They are wonderful.

Next is one from Clare, showing a view over London. It shows the Tower Bridge, which was built in 1894, and is the gateway to the City of London. It crosses the River Thames. This bridge opens to allow shipping into The Pool Of London. I guess we Aussies have always had a connection to England, due to us both being part of the Commonwealth. I know it is another place I would love to visit (as are all the places I have received postcards from ... my travel bug is itching to get going !!). Thank you Clare, for the lovely card.

And finally, Kyahgirl sent me a map of Fort Saskatchewan, saying that she thought it would be better than a postcard, as I can look it over and learn a bit about where she lives. You know what, it is really cool. There is so much detail, and information, and photography on this map. It is really interesting. She has marked a few points of interest for me. Thank you, Kyahgirl, what a wonderful idea ... I will sit down later with Chicky, and we will study this map.

I received another postcard today, along with a letter, from Aunt Josefina, in Oklahoma.

It shows the State Tree - Redbud, the State Wildflower - Indian Paintbrush, and the State Bird - Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher. AJ says the Indian Paintbrush blooms alongside the highways ... must be a beautiful sight. Also, when the Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher flies, it really does look like scissors.

She also sent a lovely letter, showing some of her favorite things around the town she lives in. It looks like an amazing place to live.

I have received another couple of postcards, which I would like to share with you.

The first one is from Loni, from Michigan ... which seems to be a really amazing place, judging by the wonderful people I have met in Blogland who live there ... and it shows pictures of an Elk, a Whitetail and a Blackbear. Personally, I think I would be really scared living in an area where the Bears run around free. I guess, though, that they are only in really wild foresty areas, away from people, not in surburbia !! They are probably (hopefully) just as scared of humans, as we are of them.

The second one is from Nerdine, from Oslo, Norway, and shows a part of The Oseberg Ship, which is located in the Viking Ships Museum. It must be a really fascinating place. The Vikings have always been of great interest to me, so she picked the perfect card.

Thank you ladies, for your wonderful cards ... they are just gorgeous. I am still enjoying the Postcard Exchange, and the cards that keep arriving. It is lots of fun.

I received another postcard today ... only one this time !!

It's from another wonderful Aussie blogging friend ... Nicole ... who lives in Queensland. (Thank you Nicole ... it is a beautiful card.) The postcard shows some wonderful scenes depicting the contrasts of the blue Pacific to the Hinterland. There are some amazing beaches in Queensland, and these pictures show some along the Sunshine Coast. We went through most of these areas last year, on our big trip to Cape York. I can't wait to get up there again some time soon.

I received two more postcards today ...

The first one is from Devil Mood, and is from Porto in Portugal. It is of the old part of Porto, which is considered World Heritage by UNESCO. The boat shown is a typical one, used to carry the barrels of port wine from the highlands to the cellars. The other boat is probably a restaurant. It looks like an amazing place. So picturesque.

The second one is from Jenn, and is of Niagara Falls. It show an aerial view of the American and Canadian Horseshoe Falls. What an amazing picture ... I've always dreamt about going to Niagara Falls. I remember movies when I was a kid, where people go over the falls in a barrel ... didn't Lucille Ball go over in one of her sitcoms ?? Jenn, with her amazing talent, also added some gorgeous kitty pictures that she drew on the written side ... they are too cute !!

I am really loving receiving all these postcards, it is so much fun. Thank you to Devil Mood and Jenn, for those I received today, and to everyone else whose cards I have already received.

I received another 2 postcards yesterday ....

The first one is from Viamarie, from the Philippines. It is of the Mayon Volcano in Legaspi. It looks quite spectacular, with it's almost perfectly shaped cone. It is the most active volcano in the country, having erupted around 90 times in the past 400 years. The last time was in 2001. Apparently it is continuously blowing smoke ... must be pretty scary, I imagine, living nearby !!

The second one is from Chrixean, also from the Philippines. It shows a Philippine Jeepney, which is a form of public transport ... I guess like a mini bus. Apparently each Jeepney is individually "dressed" according to the creativity of the owners. This one has an abundance of headlights !!

Thank you, ladies, for the lovely cards. My collection is certainly growing. I am also still getting emails from friends (new and old) wishing to be part of the Postcard Exchange. It is all so much fun.

It was exciting checking my mail yesterday ... there were 5 postcards from my dear blogging friends.

The first one is from Feathers, and shows a beautiful night shot of Chicago's Navy Pier. The Navy Pier features a variety of shopping promenades, restaurants, theaters, gardens and amusements. She said she tried to affix herself to the postcard, but it didn't work !!! That is so sweet, Feathers :)

The next one is from Nikki (Connie's niece), and is from Texas. It shows a variety of things ... The Alamo in San Antonio, a cowboy, the state Capitol in Austin, Bluebonnets - the State Flower, and a Longhorn Steer. It is a wonderful card.

The next is another one from Dick & Huggy, and it shows all the beautiful tulips at Tulip Town. My goodness, they are so beautiful. Dick says that this is where he had been that day, with his son Mike and his family. He also says his valley produces more tulip bulbs than any place in the USA. The blooms are just a by-product, and the bulbs are the item that is mainly sold.

Here is one from Connie, from St Louis. It has a lovely cut-out heart (gosh, the postal system is rough on postcards ... unfortunately this one arrived a bit torn ... but beautiful none-the-less), and an amazing night time view ... what a gorgeous city. It shows the 630-foot Gateway Arch, which serves as a centerpiece of St. Louis, and is considered the birthplace of the westward pioneer movement.

Last but not least, one from Friday's Child, all the way from the Philippines. The views on the card look just amazing. It is of the Banaue Rice Terraces overlooking Batad Village, and is considered the eighth wonder of the world.

Thank you, dear friends ... this is really interesting, receiving so many beautiful cards. Thank you for taking the time to pick out such lovely ones.

I was excited when I went to check my letterbox today, hoping there would be a postcard for me. Well, there was two of them ...

The first one is from Skyblue, with gorgeous pictures of San FransiSco ... it looks like a really amazing place. Another one in a long list of places I want to visit.

The second is from Kimananda, from Denmark, showing a beautiful picture of Prince Frederick and Princess Mary (who is a proud Aussie !!). I guess, Kimananda, we have a connection through this couple !!

Thanks ladies, I love the postcards. This is so much fun, I am really enjoying going to my letterbox daily, in anticipation of the postcards that may be there. Unfortunately, I don't imagine anyone has received any of mine yet, as the Australian Snail Mail is really, really slow. I posted them last week, so they shouldn't be too far away

This postcard is from Dick and Huggy, who were recently having RV adventures, and were telling us all about them in his blog. Very interesting, with lots of great photos.

This one is from Oatman, Arizona, and he says it is a fun town to visit. He says that the burros are descendents of those turned loose by miners when they left. Some of the herd of 2,200 or so have discovered begging for carrots from the tourists in town. On the back of the card it says that it is on the historic Route 66, and was the main highway until 1952. Oatman is an old gold mining town that time forgot. Gold mining was made illegal at the beginning of World War Two, but sevral mining companies are once again interested in mining the gold in the area.

This first postcard is from DaybyDay, showing some work from the Detroit Art Museum. It shows a fresco, by Diego M. Rivera. She says she has seen this art in person. It must be an amazing place.

The next two are from LoraLoo, from Las Vegas .

One shows a magnificent night time view of the Las Vegas Strip. She says it is the only place where one can see Rome, Paris, Egypt and New York city all in one day !! Seeing this photo makes me think of Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Wayne Newton, Liberace .....

The second one shows a day time view of the city of Las Vegas. Apparently the population of Las Vegas is over 1.6 million people. It certainly looks like an amazing place.

This next one is from a fellow Aussie, Peter. It shows a picture of the Kuranda Scenic Railway, and Barron Falls, near Cairns in Far North Queensland. Peter says the flow over the Barron Falls is nothing like this anymore, since they dammed the river ... shame.

I am borrowing this idea from DaybyDay (it's OK, she said I could !!) ... it is such a wonderful idea. Here goes ...

I would like to do a Postcard Exchange with anyone who would like to join in. It would be fun to receive postcards from friends, with a little note on it, showing the official postage from whatever country the card is coming from.

So, if you are interested in joining in, please email me (my email address is on my profile page), and we can exchange addresses. I'm on my way out now, to purchase a bunch of gorgeous Australian postcards, ready to send off !!

Let's get this happening ... it should be fun. There is nothing nicer than receiving something in the letterbox that is not a bill !!
